Growing up, my parents restored a number of old houses- Victorian, two Arts & Crafts and a mid-century modern. We went on countless historic house tours and I would spend summer afternoons looking through my dad's library of architecture books. So, it wasn't a surprise to anyone that I majored in art history with a focus on architecture in college. Many years later, my daily job has nothing to do with the arts. Architecture and decorative arts is a wonderful escape from the serious nature of my employment and my day-to-day family obligations.
Decorative objects allow anyone to bring the flavor of a place or time into their home. I enjoy setting a table that creates a mood- Moroccan, a windswept beach, Bauhaus, Deco, Swedish- the possibilities are endless. Join my sporadic musings on flatware, plates, floral arrangements and decorative things.
